Automotive, B2B2СCurrently serving as the lone Product Designer at Rexalto, I find myself at the crossroads of technology and automotive business solutions. We give car dealers the tools they need to launch their own car subscription services, providing a new revenue stream for their business.
The primary objective was to expand our reach into new territories – specifically, the European, AFE, and U.S. markets. This ambition required enhancing and broadening the capabilities of our tech infrastructure to cater to the distinct needs presented by each region.
In the role of sole design lead, I managed the entire design process for two critical products. My responsibilities ranged from introducing design principles to the development team to leading design sprints and ensuring our Figma design system stayed up-to-date and functional.
Designing the admin panel and Showcase meant addressing distinct user needs within an interconnected system. Initially, the challenge was to tailor custom scripts and delve into the schematics to grasp the underlying business logic fully.
The admin panel had its legacy complexities, whereas the Showcase allowed for more creative design changes within its existing features.
During the first quarter, I integrated design reviews and demonstrations into our regular practices. This new step not only refined our interfaces but also demonstrated the benefits of a design approach that embraces regular iteration to the team.
For the Storefront, I essentially built it from the ground up while carefully adhering to business requirements and third-party limitations, especially during the KYC and billing phases.
Of course, the entire interface is implemented
with mobile adaptability in mind.
Designing a personal user account was another phase of the project. My team and I rolled out all the essential features for managing subscriptions, from the logic behind email communications to an innovative car buyback function that kicks in when the subscription expires.
The admin panel (DMS) also required improvements. I introduced cost-effective design enhancements to make the interface easier to use. This involved redesigning the process for adding new cars to the system and completely updating the main pages for managing subscriptions.
Within two months, we successfully launched a subscription log feature for B2B clients. This was key in securing new contracts and moving our business objectives forward.
Since my arrival, Rexalto has seen some major wins. We've secured an additional $1 million in investments and welcomed new, major clients into the fold. My design-centric changes played a direct role in these milestones. I revamped the car-adding process, cutting the manual entry time from 3.5 minutes to just 40 seconds. Beyond manual tasks, I incorporated data parsing capabilities, enabling us to add hundreds of cars in mere seconds — a game-changer for our operations managers. Additionally, the robust design system I've implemented has accelerated our design and layout processes, ultimately saving the company money.
Taking on various roles at Rexalto has been both challenging and fulfilling. This experience has not only transformed our product offerings but also fostered a culture of design within the development process, an effort that is continuously progressing.
